Oct. 25, 2014. 21 volunteers planted 250 plants on the hillside and hilltop, Completing the landscape plan
April 2014. City Light installed the lights.
November 2013. City Light installed the bases for three lights on the hillside.
Oct. 19, 26, Nov. 2, 2013. 48 volunteers planted 850 plants on the hillside.
September 2013. The blackberries were removed.
July 2013. The unwanted trees were removed.
April 2013. Stairway is completed.
March 2013. FCH received a DON Small & Simple match grant to do the landscaping.
January 2013. Landscape design is approved by Dept. of Transportation.
March 2012. We receive a DON Small & Simple match grant to develop the landscape plan.
Charlestown Hillclimb is the steep Charlestown Street right-of-way between S. Courtland Place and 37th Ave. S in Southeast Seattle. The Hillclimb provides pedestrian access to shopping and buses on Rainier Avenue and recreation on Lake Washington. Map
We are neighbors from the hilltop and the valley who have joined together in an informal group to develop and maintain the Hillclimb.
